About Us

The Irish Mountaineering Club ( IMC ) is a non-profit climbing & mountaineering organisation that has a history going back over seventy years since 1948 with several hundred members from all over Ireland including Dublin, Kildare, Cork, Galway & Wexford etc who engage in all aspects of mountaineering and rock-climbing.

The IMC organises climbing, hill-walking, hiking and social events all year round for its members as well as encouraging members to organise their own activities. We run training activities as needed for groups of members, including the very popular Intro to Trad Climbing Program commencing in April each year. We own a climbers’ hut 45 minutes from Dublin in the Wicklow Mountains, where members can stay overnight at a discounted rate, that can be used for various events.

Prospective members are welcome to join in our regular Thursday night social events without obligation. For information about joining the IMC, please click here.
