Dalkey Climbing Marathon in Aid of the Down Syndrome Centre
10 June 2017 @ 08:00 - 11 June 2017 @ 20:00
It’s time to step up to the mark, find a suitable partner, get out on the rock and prepare for this climbing extravaganza.
The event is a 24 hour endurance trad climbing marathon aimed at raising money, by sponsorship, for the Down Syndrome Centre in Sandyford. The Centre is a fresh and progressive young charity doing excellent work, where donated money has an immediate and visible effect on service users.
The Down Syndrome Centre provides vital support, facilities and services to children with Down Syndrome with the aim of enabling them to reach their full potential. They also provide support, advice and a meeting point for the children’s parents and carers, plugging a gap which a series of HSE funding cuts have caused.
The challenge is:
1. Climb as many trad routes as you can within 24 hours in teams of two.
2. Climb safely – pre rigging of anchors allowed before clock starts – expect to share anchors with other teams.
3. Eat and drink – there will be a barbecue to restore your aching limbs and a post finish celebration – if you can still move.
There will be prizes for first second and third place.
As the event is weather dependant it may be rescheduled for the 24/25 of June.
