Rescheduled to 30th July – Tuesday Evening Summertime Meet – Rocky Valley

June 4, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm

This year’s IMC Tuesday evening summertime meets will start with a trip to Rocky Valley and Derek Hendrick will be our host for the evening. You will find all the necessary details listed below.

Rocky Valley
Very accessible (5 min walk in) crag near Kilmaconogue/N11. Lots of short single pitch routs in lower grades (V-diff to VS) so it’s ideal for new members but also worth a visit for old hands too. Quality of climbing is surprisingly good. Most of the routes here were developed Gerry Moss.

Driving Directions
Take N11 south to Kilmacanogue, exit towards Glendalough, drive 1km up the hill, park considerately on right at the entrance to “Healy Pottery”.

Access
Walk 150m up the hill to a green metal telecoms box against a low wall on the right-hand side of the road. Cross road and hop over the ditch and follow the track up to the foot of the crag (5 minutes from the road). Take care jumping the ditch on the way out.

Routes
Holly Tree Crag is in the Wicklow guidebook. This and the adjacent and more recently developed “Silver Spring Crag” are documented here.

The climbing is suitable for all levels and new members are particularly welcome.
