    IMC 75th Anniversary Dinner

The Irish Mountaineering Club / Cumann Sléibhteoireachta na hÉireann was founded in 1948 and celebrates 75 years with an Anniversary Dinner at The Glendalough Hotel on Saturday 25th November, 2023.

The event kicks off at 6.30 pm and the cost is just €50 per ticket. But its not just a dinner – its a whole day and evening of enjoyment. Book with a group of friends or come alone and meet like-minded adventurers. One club!

    • If you’re considering coming to the dinner, why not make the most of the day and hike, climb or boulder in Glendo? There’ll be plenty of members out and about and weather permitting we’ll organise a meet leader. And if you want to freshen up for the evening or don’t fancy the journey home after dinner, you could also book into the hut – which is amazing value for a hot shower and a bed for the night and an appropriate place to stay given the occasion. How did the IMC get to own the hut? Come to the dinner and we’ll tell ye!
    • Enjoy a fascinating photographic display highlighting a history of adventure, fun and exploration – showing meets organised by the club over the last 75 years. You can imagine the kit being used back in the day! There’s old photo’s taken from our archives and more recent images from our social media; ye might even spot yourself being featured. And you’ll definitely recognise some of the many faces and characters that comprise the IMC; now and then. Its a unique chance to see all that the Club has achieved over the decades. And some great shots for photo enthusiasts!
    • And in the spirit of adventure, the Club offers subsidies for approved expeditions and at the Dinner Hugh Reynolds will make a presentation on his milestone attempt of a first ascent this year – full of drama and unexpected twists – you wont want to miss it.
    • From trad climbing in cold climates to warm sunny sports climbing in Sicily, you’ll get the chance to hear all about the hugely successful meet organised by John Mansfield again this year. What makes Sicily such a brilliant location for a sports climbing holiday? Is it the huge number of routes, the chance to take on a challenging full-on multi-pitch, the sea swims at lunchtime, the seafood, pasta and wine in balmy evening weather – or is it just the fantastic value and amazing funky hostel we stay at?

Join us to celebrate this important milestone. Members and friends old and new are all welcome.
