Procedures

Adding a first-time member, or an ex-member (without an account)

1. On the Users menu, select Add New.
2. Enter a Username and Email for the new user.
3. For Role, pick “IMC Member” from the drop-down menu.
4. Press the Add New User button.
5. The new user’s account will be listed on the Users page once the user has activated their account by visiting the “Confirm Invite” link that was automatically sent to their email address when you pressed the button.

Promoting an ex-member (with an account) to a member

1. On the Users menu, select All Users.
2. Search for the Username of the user.
3. If found, select the user by filling the checkbox to the Username’s left.
4. Use the “Add role” and/or “Remove role” drop-down menus repeatedly on the selected user, until the only Roles that the user has are:
   • “IMC Member”
   • “Spectator”

Demoting a member to an ex-member (with an account)

1. On the Users menu, select All Users.
2. Search for the Username of the user.
3. If found, select the user by filling the checkbox to the Username’s left.
4. Use the “Add role” and/or “Remove role” drop-down menus repeatedly on the selected user, until the only Roles that the user has are:
   • “IMC Ex-Member”
   • “Spectator”

Promoting a member to an Auditor, Committee or President position

1. On the Users menu, select All Users.
2. Search for the Username of the user.
3. If found, select the user by filling the checkbox to the Username’s left.
4. Use the “Add role” and/or “Remove role” drop-down menus repeatedly on the selected user, until the only Roles that the user has are:
   • “IMC Auditors;Committee;President”
   • “IMC Member”
   • “Spectator”

Demoting a member from an Auditor, Committee or President position

1. On the Users menu, select All Users.
2. Search for the Username of the user.
3. If found, select the user by filling the checkbox to the Username’s left.
4. Use the “Add role” and/or “Remove role” drop-down menus repeatedly on the selected user, until the only Roles that the user has are:
   • “IMC Member”
   • “Spectator”

Promoting a Committee member to a Committee Officer position

1. On the Users menu, select All Users.
2. Search for the Username of the user.
3. If found, select the user by filling the checkbox to the Username’s left.
4. Use the “Add role” and/or “Remove role” drop-down menus repeatedly on the selected user, until the only Roles that the user has are:
   • One of:
     • “IMC Meets Secretary”
     • “IMC Membership Officer”
     • “IMC Publicity Officer”
   • “IMC Auditors;Committee;President”
   • “IMC Member”
   • “Spectator”

Demoting a Committee member from a Committee Officer position

1. On the Users menu, select All Users.
2. Search for the Username of the user.
3. If found, select the user by filling the checkbox to the Username’s left.
4. Use the “Add role” and/or “Remove role” drop-down menus repeatedly on the selected user, until the only Roles that the user has are:
   • “IMC Auditors;Committee;President”
   • “IMC Member”
   • “Spectator”

Non-IMC Roles

The following Roles are predefined by WordPress or its Plugins; in most cases they are not needed by the IMC because their Capabilities have been made available through an IMC Role.

Capabilities associated with IMC Roles

Note that the “IMC Ex-Member” Role is not granted any Capabilities; it is denied all Capabilities, including all Capabilities not listed below.
A denied Capability always overrides a granted Capability.

In the table below:

• “1” = a Capability that is granted;
• a blank cell = a Capability that is neither granted nor denied.
• “-1” = a Capability that is denied;
• “Forums” capability provider = bbPress.
• “Calendar” capability provider = The Events Calendar by Modern Tribe.
