Help! I’ve Joined The Committee, What Happens Now?
First of all, welcome…and thank you!
When you joined the Committee, the Webmaster would have been informed of your personal email address. If your role has an official IMC address, the Webmaster arranges for incoming mail for that address to be forwarded to your personal address; you do not need to do anything.
If you wish to send email from your official IMC address then you should first check with the Webmaster that we have a mailbox set up for your specific committee role (the Webmaster will need to send you a new password, anyway). Then you will need to follow the steps outlined here:
How Do I Use My Own Mail Client to Send & Receive Mail Using My IMC Email Address?
You will also have been granted access to a special Committee section of the website (but you know that because you have already found this FAQ).
Here you will find all manner of things. We would recommend you start by looking in the Documents section where you may be luckily enough to find a Handbook for your chosen role (or if one does not exist, you may soon be asked to write one). And, crucially, this is where the Club Constitution resides, you should read this, it’s fairly short and not as dull as you may initially think.
Finally, depending on your role on the committee, there may be pages relevant to you on the website. You should familiarise yourself with the content of those pages, be happy with what is said and take responsibility for keeping these pages up to date. Please refer to:
