From Carrick Little Car Park, Slieve Binnan Grade 1 scramble up Slieve Lamagam and Grade 1 scramble descent of the Devils Coach Rd. 960m descent in total
Start Time: 10am Sharp, Carrick Little Car Park (image attached).
Description: 17km, 1060m ascent, hike up Slieve Binnian, Grade 1 scrambling ascent of Slieve Lamagan and Grade 1 scrambling descent of Devil’s Coachroad. Good fitness required.
Expected time: between 6 – 7 hours.
Equipment Needed:
– Adequate food and water for full day hike.
– Boots needed – I use well fitting semi-rigid Mammut boots. Since we are also covering rough hiking ground also I would probably recommend hiking boots over other kinds of footwear.
– All the gear expected for a standard Irish hike with rain (top and bottom waterproofs, fleeces, hat and gloves, etc.).
– Headtorch with spare batteries advised.
Scramble – hike combo may be changed to hike only if wet conditions.
