A stunning trad climbing coastal location in Cork, this weekend of climbing is suitable for those who can lead at VD level and above.
Also you need to be competent in abseiling.
Check out details here Black Sabbath traverse a must!
Barry Watts is kindly leading the meet and he is familiar with the many great climbs at this location – treat yourself!
Barry Says:
General plan is to stay at Allihies camping near Allihies village, €10/€17 per tent per night depending on Single/Double occupancy, showers take €2 coin, probably best to bring cash to pay canpsite owner. There is a nearby beach, shop and pubs. For those who want to stay indoors there might be something on AirB&B or there is the Allihies Copper Mines Lodge in the village which is the former Allihies Youth Hostel re branded. Meet Blackball Harbour at 11AM on Sat and I will give a run down on the area before we begin walking the 25 minutes over to the signal tower on Blackball Head.
Weekend of 29th and 30th April
Update from Cathy – the Lodge (hostel) is booked out but the camping site say they have plenty of room – I’ve given them the heads up there’d be a group of us
