Indoor Meet: Rope Work – Tim Fogg

In ‘Rope work’ Tim tracks a transition from being a climber, caver and outdoor education teacher, to working in the rope access industry then specifically in the film and television industry, assisting filmmakers to access difficult-to-reach locations to achieve unique perspectives for their cameras. From supervising safety in caves, up trees and on cliffs to an active volcano, this is the detail of ‘how did they get there safely?
Tim Fogg is the managing director of Rope Access Specialists. For more than 15 years they have been working in the film and television industry assisting filmmakers to access difficult-to-reach locations. R.A.S. has provided rope access training, rigging and safety supervision for numerous, mostly natural history productions, including “Planet Earth,” “Life,” “Lost Land of the Jaguar,” “Wild China,” and “Frozen Planet.” Prior to establishing R.A.S. in 1980, Tim spent a number of years in the Antarctic with the British Antarctic Survey, working as a diver, field assistant and running a dog team. He is a keen and experienced caver, and has been a member of 20 major caving expeditions.
