Joe Reville Ireland’s Eye Meet

October 3, 2015

The Joe Reville meet to Ireland’s Eye, originally set for Sept. 19th, was postponed due to bad weather. But the weather is set fair for next Saturday and the ferry will be running all day, so some of the late Joe’s climbing friends are keeping the faith. You are more than welcome to join us, for what will be pleasant day’s climbing, bird watching and seal spotting. Some fine multi-pitch climbs in the lowest grades with spectacular views of one of Ireland’s newest gannet colonies and great views across the bay to the Wicklows. Throw in a twenty minute boat trip, plus an option to have a quick dip in the sea to wrap up a grand day’s outing. Not only that, there is a chance we may be able to provide on-board entertainment, as in former years!

The ferry leaves the East Pier at 10am and the early birds get the best choice of routes (there will be later sailings) and a chance to return at a time to suit you, up until the last return trip at 16.45. The return fare is twenty euro and it will be a great help if you have the exact fare. The east pier is about 10 minutes walk from the Dart station and is the furthest pier from the station. There is ample car parking for those arriving early. This meet is especially suitable for those  starting to move up the ladder, as well as for those (like myself) slowly working their way down it. So come one come all.

Full details of the climbs can be found in the Dublin section of the route database on Climbing.ie. and some pics of the island can be found on the original posting for the Joe Reville meet in this section.

This should be a smashing day out, just as it always has been in former years, so grab it while it is going! The more the merrier.
