Kerry Meet – Mount Brandon Hostel, Cloghane
September 30, 2016 - October 2, 2016
I have booked the Mount Brandon Hostel in Cloghane which is ideal for access to – Brandon and the Faha ridge. Glen Bo which gives access to Beenoskee and Stradbally mountains is one of the most spectacular valleys in the country with a village deserted in the 1970’s nestled under several hanging valleys.
Rock Climbing is 3o a minute drive, a short walk and a super abseil in to the base of Dunsheen Head. This sea cliff has grades for all, immaculate rock and good protection in tune with the grades. South facing so dries quickly even when showers are about. 2 years ago we had an amazing day at probably the most sociable crag for a gang in good weather.
The Gap most likely for Sunday offers great climbing for all grades with easy access to and off the crags.
4 bed dorms are available at ~€20 per head per night / twins or double ~€25 per head per night. All rooms en suite. I am taking deposits of €20 to secure a spot. I wish to confirm numbers 10th September.
The more the merrier. Hopefully we have the numbers of the last few years.
Tony
p.s. the Dingle peninsula has more than enough for us but there is also the Gap and the Reeks on the way down or back if need be. Also some of the best surf in the world at Inch, Castlegregory and Stradbally beaches.
