Midweek Meets – Rocky Valley
June 16, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeClimbing on minor crags of County Wicklow every Tuesday evening.
Suitable for all levels.
Rocky Valley:
Very accessible (5 min walk in) crag near Kilmaconogue/N11. Lots of short single pitch in lower grades(VDiff to VS), so its ideal for new members, but also worth a visit for old hands too. Quality of climbing is surprisingly good. Most of the routes here were developed by that legend of the IMC Gerry Moss.
Driving Directions
Take N11 south to Kilmacanogue, exit towards Glendalough, drive 1km up the hill, park considerately on right at the entrance to “Healy Pottery”.
Map
Access
Walk 150m up the hill to a green metal telecoms box against a low wall on the righthand side of the road. Cross road and hop over the ditch and follow the track up to the foot of the crag (5 minutes from the road). Take care jumping the ditch on the way out.
Routes
Holly Tree Crag is in the Wicklow guidebook. This and the adjacent and more recently developed “Silver Spring Crag” are documented here.
