Snowdonia Meet – June Bank Holiday

May 30, 2025June 2, 2025

June Bank Holiday meet in Snowdonia – staying in the Chester Mountaineering Club’s Hut, on the outskirts of Llanberis.

Snowdonia is a mecca for climbers and hill walkers. Here, in a compact area, there are hundreds of crags and thousands of climbs of all grades from Diff to high Extremes. We have roadside crags, valley crags and mountain crags, plus the magnificent sea cliffs of Gogarth, all within a half hour’s drive from the hut. For walkers and scramblers, a traverse of the airy the Snowdon Horseshoe is not to be missed. There are also wonderful scrambling routes on Tryfan, the only mountain south of Scotland where the use of hands is required to reach the summit. The village of Llanberis has 2 good gear shops, offering 10% discount on producing your IMC card. There is also a supermarket, cafés, restaurants, pubs and an ATM.

The hut is less than an hour’s drive from Holyhead Ferry Port. You will need to bring your sleeping bag and a pillow case. The overnight fee is  €15 (i.e. €45 euros total for the 3 nights). The hut is well equipped with everything needed for cooking and has separate wash rooms for women and men. Full details of the hut can be found on their website – https://chestermc.org/pcu/

Spaces are limited, so please don’t register unless you are fully committed. It makes sense to utilise all the spaces in cars, to keep the cost of travel down. More info to come later
