From Beach to Belay – Sport Climbing in Costa Blanca
Get away from the Irish weather for a little sport climbing in the sunshine of Costa Blanca on the southeastern coast of Spain in March 2026

Costa Blanca is one of Spain’s top climbing destinations with grades to suits all abilities
Tons of sport crags with easy access, reliable weather, cheap accommodation and low cost flights
A huge variety of options including Via Ferrata, hiking/scrambling together with superb sport climbs and a multitude of multi-pitch routes on the coast and in the nearby mountain ranges
The trip will be 8 days from Saturday 21st March until Sunday 29th March, there are daily flights to Alicante so plenty of other variations are available

Accommodation:
The trip will be based at Finestrat, 35 mins drive from Alicante airport, just 10km from Benidorm, it boasts nearby beaches, close to the picturesque villages of Orcheta or Sella, and most importantly within handy driving distance of Calpe and a multitude of crags
The trip is open to club members who are competent at lead belaying and comfortable climbing or seconding at HS trad/4c upwards sport and know how to clean a sport anchor
Minimum Equipment required:
Harness, helmet, belay device, 2 x slings, quickdraws, shoes, 3 x carabiners, 60 or 70m or 80m rope between 2 people, suncream
