The Burren Meet Sept 2020

September 11, 2020 - September 13, 2020

The Burren is an expansive rocky limestone landscape making it a prime destination for trad climbers.
It is a short distance along the coast from either Doolin or Fanore to the roadside crag at Ballyryan (beginner friendly).

Here you will find routs graded from VD to E1 making it a great place to practice some lead climbing and set up a few bottom ropes.

We will also explore some of the other crags at Ailladie such as Dancing Ledges and, for the more experienced climbers, the Aran and Mirror Walls which are a short distance from Ballyryan.

Unfortunately, this year’s meet is a club member’s only event (as opposed to last year’s meet, which we organized with MI and Dal Riada). This is the case due to pandemic situation. After long discussions we decided to keep our meets separate, as it might be difficult to cater for a large crowd in this specific location at this time.

The IMC meet will take place over the weekend of the 11th – 13th September.

While normally there is plenty of accommodation available in Doolin, this year it might not be the case, we are currently checking with Doolin camp sites for availability. But if you are planning on staying elsewhere., please book in advance.

By registering you are agreeing for your details to be passed to 3rd parties for contact tracing purposes where required.

Gerard O’Sullivan is the host this year, all registrations are forwarded to him.

Please note that meet will only go ahead if it is compliant with whatever government guidelines for handling COVID-19 are at the time.

Climbing is dangerous, and you should always climb within your ability, after carefully judging the safety of the route and surrounding area. Failure for you to follow these conditions may result in injury or death. …
